The Bow Trend: Sophisticated Ways to Style Bows at Any Age

I’ve been seeing adorable hair bows all over the place. I love the feminine girliness of them. They are both sweet and playful, and such a cute accessory that works with casual and dressy outfits. But being in my 40’s, I feel a bit silly wearing a big bow in my hair. Can I actually pull it off? I don't know... But Savannah Guthrie seems to wear them well, so maybe I’m being a bit too ageist with the hair bows.

Seeing bows in fashion today dusted off the cobwebs of my youth. They bring back nostalgic feelings of being that happy-go-lucky girl who skipped off to school with bows decorating the end of my French braids. They remind me of the beautiful silk ribbons I used to tie my pointe shoes while sitting on the worn wood floors of the Rochester School of Ballet. Seeing bows pop back into style reminds me how much of my childhood incorporated them into my everyday life. For that reason, I love the way they make me feel… it's like my youth is tapping on my shoulder to remind me of that little girl who still deserves to be honored and adored and encouraged to celebrate her femininity.
Lately, bows are popping up in more than just hair accessories and I can’t get enough of them! Shoes, handbags, jewelry, sweaters and even nail art. There are so many ways to incorporate them into your everyday style. The best part? You can be “age appropriate” with subtle bow accents or you can just say F it and wear the bows however YOUR little inner girl wants to wear them!Ba
