By far, my favorite accessory is a pair of sunglasses. My eyes are extremely sensitive to sunlight so I'm wearing them all-year round when there is any ounce of sunlight peeping through. And admittedly, I like designer sunglasses and have been oh-so faithful to Ray Ban, in particular. You really cannot go wrong with the classic Ray Ban Wayfarer. It looks good on men, women and all face shapes and sizes. My first big designer sunglass splurge was on my honeymoon in Italy. I saw this pair of Celine sunglasses in a little shop in Positano and HAD to have them. What did I do? Managed to leave them in the hotel room, never to be recovered (I truly hope some hotel staff got them and walked around the streets of Italy looking fabulous). Since then, the most I've spent on sunglasses were my Wayfarers which I've rocked the same pair for 6 years now. I keep a tight grip on those bad boys after losing the Celine sunglasses.

I don't know about you, but two things I keep myself surrounded with are chapstick and sunglasses - in my car, in a basket next to the garage door, in jacket pockets, purses and backpacks. A big bowl of inexpensive sunglasses sits in my laundry room for easy access. If having 10+ pairs makes me a sunglass hoarder - so be it. That said, given the amount of glasses I break or misplace - a majority of the time I'm purchasing designer dupes. I don't see the need to drop $350 on a pair when I can get lookalike sunglasses for a fraction of the price. And, right now, with oversized sunglasses being trendy in 2025, it's time for me to add to my collection. I wasn't a fan of the super thin/small/perched on the middle of your nose sunglasses - and yes, I realize saying that means my elder millenial is showing. So the fact that oversized sunglasses are back makes me beyond happy! From Jackie O in the 1960's to Nicole Richie & Paris Hilton in the early 2000's, there's a reason oversized sunglasses keep coming back.
How to Chose Oversized Sunglasses for Your Face Shape
While there are a few specific sunglasses that look universally good on almost face shapes, it's important to chose a style that works with your particular face shape to accentuate and compliment that beautiful mug of yours. Here are some general guidelines:
Oval Face:
Almost any oversized style works.
Look for frames that maintain the natural balance of your face.
Avoid frames that are too large, as they can overwhelm your features.
Round Face:
Choose angular or geometric oversized frames to add structure.
Look for square, rectangular, or cat-eye shapes to elongate the face.
Avoid round or circular frames, as they can make your face appear rounder.
Square Face:
Opt for oversized frames with soft curves or rounded edges to soften angular features.
Round, oval, or butterfly-shaped frames work well.
Avoid boxy or angular frames that emphasize sharp lines.
Heart Face:
Choose frames that are wider at the bottom to balance a wider forehead.
Look for aviator, round, or cat-eye styles.
Avoid top-heavy or overly decorative frames that draw attention to the forehead.
Diamond Face:
Select oversized frames that highlight your cheekbones and soften your narrow chin.
Oval, cat-eye, or rimless frames are great options.
Avoid narrow or small frames that can make your face look unbalanced.
Oblong Face:
Go for oversized frames that add width to your face.
Look for square, rectangular, or round frames with bold details.
Avoid small or narrow frames that can make your face appear longer.
