15 Essentials For a 5-Star Guest Bedroom

Okay, okay, maybe you don't want your guests to become permanent residents. But you do want them to feel like they've stumbled upon a serene guest room paradise that'll have them bragging when they get home. I got the idea for this post after staying at a friend's house who had so many little touches in the guest bedroom that I found it surprisingly sweet and thoughtful. A little vase on the bedside table next to an adorable carafe of water, and a plushy robe with matching towels? Yes, yes and yes. The effort showed she was happy to have me there and that feeling of warm hospitality has stuck with me ever since.

guest bedroom decor ideas

This post is packed with ideas to make your guest bedroom a visitor's paradise. The best part is once you get these things, you're all stocked up and ready to go. The most you may need to do is wash the sheets and towels and pluck a few flowers from your garden for the pretty vase on the bedside table.

sheets for guest bedroom

I do not personally own these, but they have to be good having over 11,000 people purchase them on Amazon with an average rating of 4.5. There's really nothing like getting into a bed with clean soft sheets. The best part is there's over 20 colors to chose from to match your guest bedroom decor.

luxurious faux fur sherpa blanket to make guests feel welcome in your guest bedroom

There's nothing worse than waking up shivering in someone else's home during the middle of the night. Throw this on the end of the bed for any guests that run a little cold. This sherpa faux fur blanket is SO plush and warm. (Also comes in many colors)

white gray luxury turkish towels for a guest bedroom

Are your towels a little worse for wear like mine? Probably not what you want to put out for guests. Treat them to these really soft turkish towels! This comes in a 6-piece set with 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, and 3 washcloths. Plus, by putting these out for them in the guest bedroom, it deters them from poking around trying to find where you store towels. ;)

large neutral coastal seagrass basket used for towel storage in a guest bedroom

Once I have my extra blanket on the bed, I don't want to pile the towels on there as well. A great alternative is storing any additional blankets and towels in a basket tucked away in a nice corner of the room. I love this seagrass basket for its neutral coastal charm.

sound sleep machine for guest bedrooms

I think we have one of these in every room of our house. We're big fans of sleep machines around here. These are especially great if your household gets noisy in the early morning and your guests want to sleep in. There are a lot of sound machines with lots of bells and whistles, but this one is a workhorse. I swear by it.

ring holder dish perfect for a bedside table in a guest bedroom

Your guests may want to remove their rings or other jewelry at night and this little dish in the shape of a lotus leaf is just darling on a bedside table.

I got this as a Christmas gift one year and thought what an odd gift it was... until I started using it and now I love it! I keep one on my own bedside table. But it's genius b/c the little cup fits over the carafe so it keeps the water covered throughout the night.

pink sleep eye mask to keep light out in a guest bedroom

We have sheer curtains in our guest bedroom and the sun comes up directly facing it. I keep this sleep mask in the bedside drawer in case guests want a way to block that early morning light.

Travel Adapter for extra chargers in a guest bedroom

There's nothing worse than getting somewhere and not having a charger. And when I'm staying at someone's house, I hate asking to borrow one. I keep this plugged into the wall socket in our guest bedrom with explicit instructions that no one moves it! (Chargers are a hot commodity around here). This one is great as it accommodates almost all USB devices. The best part? It has 5 different input plugs so you can also use this for any international travel.

white modern vase for bedside table in a guest bedroom

There's just something special about walking into a bedroom with fresh flowers on the bedside table. It's such a lovely way to welcome your guests.

personalized wifi password sign for guest bedroom

This is so cute! I think it could even be used if you're hosting a big party so people aren't bugging you for the wifi password. This takes a couple weeks to personalize and ship so make sure you order it in plenty of time before your guests arrive.

plush pink fleece robe for guests staying at your house

Your guests might feel a bit shy to walk from the bedroom to the bathroom in their pajamas and let's be honest, robes aren't exactly something small and easy to pack on a trip. This long fleece robe would be so nice to hang on the back of the bedroom door.

I almost always forget to pack one or two essential toiletry items. I fill this little bag with all the essentials someone might need: mini deodorant, q-tips, razors, Tylenol, hand sanitizer, little shampoo and conditioner sets, etc. I tuck this bag in the basket along with the towels so my guests want for naught!

mattress topper for guest bedroom bed

We have one of these and I had someone tell me they never want to go home because they loved the bed so much. This matress topper makes every bed super soft and comfortable.

white luggage stand for guest bedroom

And finally, a stand for guests to put their suitcase and luggage. No one wants to hoist a suitcase onto a fresh bed after traveling (gross!) and it's also not comfortable to root around in a suitcase on the ground. This is easily stored in a closet when not in use and I like that this one has a little plank at the bottom to put shoes. Everything nice and tidy and in its place!
