Ladies, let’s be real: we're all the unsung superheros in life. We multi-task, stay on top of appointments, organize a lunch for a co-worker's birthday, participate in PTA, workout and stay on top of our own health, buy the dog food, run meetings at work, manage playdates, cancel piano lessons when someone gets sick, make grocery lists, a sounding board for partners, replenish the snack drawer, call to get carpets cleaned, find the missing glove, check in on our friends, get to bookclub on time, take an aging parent to their doctor appointment, find everything needed for 4th grade spirit week, teacher gifts, holiday gifts, all the gifts, remembering your mother-in-laws birthday, refilling toilet paper holders, wiping down counters, waking up at 3am to administer kids tylenol flu, running to the bank before a volleyball game, bedtime stories, a quick run of the vacuum before work, making lunches, opening the computer at 9pm to finish work after kids are in bed, putting laundry away, and on... and on... and on. We. Are. Amazing.
But here’s the thing: even superheroes need to recharge. We are so busy taking care of others that we often forget to take a moment and focus on ourselves. Self-care isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a necessity. Taking time to pamper yourself doesn’t just feel good—it’s the ultimate investment in your well-being. A little me-time can help you unwind, reset, and show up as your best self (or at least survive the next PTA meeting without rolling your eyes). So, light those candles, queue up your favorite playlist, and let’s talk about turning your home into a personal oasis.
At-Home Spa Treatments to Soothe Your Soul
Here are some simple but luxurious ideas to help you unwind at the end of a long day or start your morning feeling like the badass you are.
The Ultimate Relaxation Bath
What do I like to do? I add Epsom salts and add a few drops of lavender or eucalyptus essential oil. I get out my handy bath tray and on it I put a candle, a glass of wine or tea, a little bowl of chocolates, and my favorite book. I have a waterproof speaker that I turn on a podcast or relaxing music. And I lock that door to keep the riffraff out of my space for however long I want to soak.
DIY Facial That Feels Pro-Level
I am not a fan of crazy 10-step skin routines every night. I know I should be doing it as a woman in her 40's but I don't have the time or energy after a long day most nights. I'm lucky to get my teeth brushed and any make-up removed. Therefore, I try to do a few DIY facials here and there to give my skin some extra love. Here are my tried and true favorites:
Step 1: LED RedLight Therapy
I start with RedLight Therapy. Given to me as a gift for Christmas, I've not had it long enough to tout my specific experiences on how it's helped my aging skin, but my friend who has had hers for a long time swears it's making a difference. They are pricey but a really good investment. Here are links to both mine and hers:

Step 2: Face Steamer
Next, I steam my face to increase circulation and prep your skin for maximum absoroption of products. I recently went for a facial and she had the steamer going for a good majority of my treatment.
Step 3: Exfoliate
Get all that gunk and junk off your face to allow for a clean slate to get those products to work the best. Here are two I've been using for quite some time:
Step 4: Wash, Wash, Wash
I don't think this one needs an explanation. My go-to is the Revision Skincare Purifying Cleansing Gel. But I also really like La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser. I use both with the sustainable Clean Skin Club Clean Towels.
Step 5: Face Mask
There are so many good ones out there. From $2 sheet masks from Target to more expensive cream masks - there choices are endless.
Step 6: Toner
I have one toner I use and one only. I should probably branch out, but this stuff is the best.
Step 7: Moisturizer
Look at that: I don't even get to 10 steps on my at-home spa DIY facial night. I like to use something heavier in the winter (option 1) and lighter in the summer (option 2).
Morning Glow Routine
Begin with a gentle facial massage using a jade roller or gua sha tool to de-puff and boost circulation. Follow with a vitamin C serum, SPF moisturizer, and a spritz of refreshing face mist. You’ll look and feel awake—even if you’ve hit the snooze button one too many times.
Aromatherapy Escape
Utilize any and all of these aromatherapy tools when you are doing any of your at-home spa treatments. A diffuser to fill your space with calming or energizing scents like lavender, citrus, or bergamot. No diffuser? No problem. A dab of essential oil on your wrists or a scented candle works just as well.
Mani-Pedi Night
Soak your hands and feet, push back your cuticles, and slather on some rich lotion. Then pick a nail color that makes you smile. Hot pink? Classic red? Go wild! I recently wrote an article on my favorite gel-like nail polishes that I think you might like!

Quick Tips to Maximize Your At-Home Spa Experience
Set the Mood: Dim the lights, light candles, and put on a relaxing playlist.
Unplug: No emails, no notifications—just you and your me-time.
Consistency is Key: Even 10 minutes of self-care a day adds up to big results.
Because You Deserve It
So, to all the women who do it all: take a deep breath, give yourself some grace, and remember that you’re worth every moment of pampering. Whether it’s a 5-minute facial or a full-blown spa night, taking time for yourself isn’t selfish; it’s self-preservation. Cheers to you, and may your next at-home spa session be as fabulous as you are.
