Cool and Stylish Sneakers For Women

In my mid-40s, I feel like the sneakers I choose to wear can walk a fine line between looking desperately too much like my teenage niece (therefore unknowingly embarrassing myself with anyone under 25), or if they are too plain and practical, I am unnerved when someone over 65 tells me my shoes are cute and asks where they can get them. It’s a conundrum, isn’t it, gals? Here are some adorable yet comfortable and “age-appropriate” sneakers that are awesome for summer.

Nike Women's Killshot 2

Of course, Nikes were on the Christmas list of every kid I know, including my 9-year-old. I feel comfortable wearing these without inching into Air Jordan territory, which feels slightly over the top. I also love that they are super neutral so that I can pair them with almost anything.

Adidas Gazelle Platform

These Adidas are my favorites! I bought them in pink and green right before St. Patrick’s Day and have worn them weekly ever since. However, I did find they run slightly big. I’d love to know if anyone else has purchased them and finds them to run big. Maybe it’s just me…

New Balance Classics 327

You can’t go wrong with New Balance. I bought my first pair a few years ago at Madewell and have owned several pairs since. These were a Christmas gift, and I love them! I like to wear them when I want a sporty look.

Dr. Scholl's Time Off

Okay—don’t hate on me when I say these are Dr. Scholl’s. When I first picked them up, the brand made me think of my Grandma for some reason. But these are incredibly comfortable. I bought them for our trip to Disney recently, and my feet never once hurt. When I got home, I immediately ordered another pair in Toasted Taupe. Fresh out of college, my son's teacher even said how cute they are! I never should have judged the book by its… brand.

Veja Recife Logo

Admittedly, Veja sneakers first hit my radar when I saw Princess Kate wearing them. Yes, I’m a sucker for anything having to do with the Royals. I haven’t bought this specific pair yet, but I have them on my wish list. While I don’t find Veja’s to be my first pick if I’m going to do a ton of walking, they have an immaculate, classic look.

Gola Grandslam Trident

Gola always has fun color combos to choose from. I currently have the white/dusty rose/coral pink in my cart, but I'm considering switching to the color combo above. Or maybe I'll just get both!

Nike Court Legacy Lift

Lastly, to circle back to the start, I also love this pair of Nikes. They give me a little extra lift as I’m on the shorter side, and what gal doesn’t like an extra inch or two? Oh, and they just look cool. As an added bonus, they are super easy to clean.
