The Best Birkenstock Dupes: Affordable Look-alikes for Every Style

I have been wearing Birkenstocks since the mid 90’s. They have come and gone in popularity a number of times but I’ve remained faithful to my beloved Birks throughout the decades. I have pairs that have been so well worn that I’ve had to have the soles replaced – there’s really nothing a pair of broken in Birkenstocks that are unique to your own foot. Birkenstocks are hotter than ever right now and for good reason – they are versatile, comfortable, easy on and off and go with almost anything (okay, maybe not a cocktail dress but you catch my drift).

While I’ll always have a soft spot for my original cork Arizonas, I totally understand why more people are searching for Birkenstock dupes right now. Prices keep climbing, certain colors sell out for months, and not everyone wants to spend over $100 on casual sandals, especially if you want more than one pair. Fortunately, there are affordable alternatives that look almost identical to Birkenstocks and still deliver cushioned footbeds, adjustable straps, and that easy minimalist style that works with everything from jeans to loungewear. The best part? Some of these dupes are so good, you’d never know they weren’t the real thing.

Birkenstock look-alike dupes for affordable fashion and summer sandals

Known for their ergonomic design, cork footbeds, and timeless appeal, these German-made sandals are iconic. However, with price tags often exceeding $100, not everyone can afford to splurge on a pair. Luckily, there are plenty of Birkenstock dupes and look-alikes that offer similar comfort and style at a fraction of the cost. While I would definitely say the real deal are worth the cost, there really some great affordable alternatives out there.

Below you’ll find the best affordable alternatives to popular Birkenstock styles—including dupes for the Boston, Arizona, Buckley, Naples, Gizeh, and more. Whether you love soft shearling, neutral suede, EVA waterproof styles, or cozy fall clogs, there’s a perfect dupe for your wardrobe and budget.

Updated for Fall 2025

This season, loafer-clog hybrids (hello, Naples) are surging, while the Boston remains a staple. Retailers are pushing fresh suede and neutral tones, and budget-friendly look-alikes are everywhere, but act quickly as I’m seeing that some are selling out fast. How would I style the Birkenstock Dupes for this fall?

  • Office-casual: Naples dupe + wide-leg trousers + fine-gauge knit + oversized blazer.
  • Weekend market: Boston dupe + barrel jeans + ribbed crew + slouchy suede bag.
  • Cozy errands: Buckley dupe + socks + sweater dress + long coat.
  • Travel day: Arizona shearling-style dupe + soft set + trench (easy on/off at TSA).

Find Your Birkenstock Vibe

  • Boston (closed-toe clog): cozy classic for fall; works with denim or wide-legs.
  • Naples (loafer-clog): polished top line, “elevated casual” feel; great with trousers. Check out InStyle’s guide to the Naples!
  • Buckley (stitched clog): visible seam = handcrafted vibe; cute with socks + midi skirts.
  • Arizona (double-strap): year-round icon; swap in shearling footbeds for fall.
  • Gizeh/Mayari (thong/cross-strap): sleek, minimal; best for mild climates.
  • Kyoto/Madrid (strap-forward / single-strap): minimalist, quiet-luxury energy.

I’ve worn Birkenstocks for years (long before they were TikTok-famous again), and I’ve tested both the real version and many of the Birkenstock dupes on the market. For this list, I looked at footbed comfort, durability, fit, and overall structure. I really like Project Cloud’s offerings a lot! But there are some equally great dupes out there!

These are a dead ringer for the Birkenstock Arizona sandals. These are made with memory foam so not only do they look just like the arizona sandal, they aim for the same comfort of a Birkenstock. These come in over 20 colors.

A great price point under $30, you can’t go wrong with these Birkenstock dupes. They are a #1 bestseller on Amazon and even have the cork sole. Check out my post on pieces I’m loving this fall and you’ll see that clogs are the top of the list.

I’ve always loved the Birkenstock Naples and Buckely clogs and this one by White Mountain comes pretty close.

A great slip-on with the extra detailing around the toe, the Gracie is a great Birkenstock dupe.

Sizing & Fit (Bookmark This Page If You Want To Reference Later!)

This is what I find to be true for actual Birkenstocks so the dupes will likely hold true as well if they aren’t just listing US sizes.

  • EU → US quick guide: 36≈5, 37≈6, 38≈7, 39≈8, 40≈9, 41≈10 (women’s).
  • Width: many originals offer Regular vs Narrow (I prefer narrow but I have a pretty slim foot); dupes usually run standard/medium. You might want to size up if you’re between.
  • Break-in: expect 2–4 wears; cushioned “soft footbed” or EVA-blend dupes break in faster.
  • Sock room: if you’ll wear chunky socks, consider a half-size up (or the next EU size).

A Brief History of Birkenstock

Birkenstock has been around far longer than most people realize. The brand originated in 1774 in Germany, when Johann Adam Birkenstock began crafting orthopedically inspired footwear. But the real turning point came in the 1960s, when Karl Birkenstock introduced the Madrid sandal featuring the now-iconic cork-latex footbed, a design that molds to your foot for custom comfort over time.

The sandals exploded in popularity in the 1970s and 80s, embraced by wellness lovers, travelers, and yes, hippies at Grateful Dead shows (IYKYK). By the 1990s, the brand went mainstream in the U.S., and today their most famous styles, Arizona, Boston, Gizeh, Mayari, Kyoto, and more, are worn by everyone from celebrities to college students.

While nothing beats a perfectly broken-in pair of Birks, the truth is the price tag isn’t for everyone, and that’s exactly why Birkenstock dupes and lookalikes have exploded in popularity. They deliver the same casual, lived-in aesthetic without the $100+ price.

What Counts as a “Dupe” (and What Doesn’t)

A dupe = the same look and vibe at a lower price from a different brand.
A counterfeit = illegal logo/brand copy. Skip those.
I vet dupes for fit, footbed comfort, materials, and return policies so you can shop smart, not sketchy.

FAQ’s

Are Birkenstock dupes comfortable?

Many Birkenstock dupes are surprisingly comfortable, especially options made with contoured memory foam footbeds or EVA cushioning. While they may not mold to your feet exactly like real Birks, the right dupe still offers great everyday support.

What are the best Birkenstock Boston clog dupes?

The most convincing Birkenstock Boston dupes are typically suede or faux-suede clogs with a cork-style sole and a single adjustable strap. Look for neutral, matte finishes and solid buckle hardware to get the closest match to the real thing.

Do Birkenstock dupes last as long as real Birkenstocks?

Not always. Real Birkenstocks can last for years because they’re made with premium cork and leather. Dupes are more about getting the look for less, so while they can be durable, they’re not designed to last as long as the original.

Where can I find Birkenstock alternatives that look real?

Amazon, Target, Walmart, and a few boutique brands offer Birkenstock look-alikes that are extremely close in design. Focus on well-reviewed options and avoid shiny or overly smooth materials if you want a realistic look.
