Thoughtful Personalized Gifts
Whenever I’m shopping for someone, I always try to think about their interests, brands they seem to love, wear or have in their home. hobbies, foods they gravitate toward, and I almost always ask myself – will this make them happy, and is something that will resonate with them? Even if it’s a simple candle, I take into consideration what scent seems like something they’d enjoy. But when I want to really give something personal and unique, I go for a personalized gift. Do I still consider their interests? Of course! A golfer may get golf balls personalized with their initials. A home chef may receive an apron with their name on it. My favorite Gemini may get a necklace with the Gemini twins on a pendant. A personalized gift goes that extra bit to let the recipient know you were really thinking about them when choosing just the right gift, unique to them.
Many personalized gifts need some forethought and planning. Things that need a monogram (like stamping initials on a leather wallet or creating custom stationery with their name) will need a bit more leeway, so the company has time to customize it. But there’s so many personalized gifts that are ready as-is. Think: bag charms with her first initial, a ready-made notebook that features the flower of her birth month or a build-your-own charm necklace featuring initials and her interests. There are so many ways to get creative with those custom and personalized gifts!
Whether you want to go the monogram route or get a gift that is custom to their favorite things, I’ve found some great personalized gifts for moms, dads, siblings, friends, and even those with fur babies.

Personalized Pet Pillow
This is one of my favorites because who wouldn’t want their fur baby immortalized on a pillow? This gift has a sense of humor. I especially like it for kids going off to college. They will be missing their pets, and a pillow of their favorite four legged friend may make them feel a little less homesick. You can chose from seven different sizes and you just upload a photo of the animal at the time of purchase.
L.L. Bean Boat and Tote
You cannot go wrong with this classic! These have always been in-style and I don’t forsee them ever going out. I like to give this gift to new parents. Yes, they will have their diaper bags, but any parents knows they need bags of baby and toddler essentials when going anywhere from a vacation to a day-trip to the beach. Also a lovely gift for any women to carry the extra small as a handbag in the summer.
Initial Bag Charm
Bag charms are super hot right now (if you haven’t seen my post about them, check it out)! This initial charm is a perfect way for her to customize her bag. It’s also a very good price point for how luxe it looks.

Customizable Coastal and Lake Art Serving Trays
For anyone that lives on a lake or coastline (or perhaps has a favorite vacation spot on a body of water), this customizable serving tray is not only beautiful, but useful. The fav favorite water spot is topographically mapped in 3D on this laser-cut tray. This one in particular needs a longer lead time so be sure to order with plenty of time!
How to Choose the Right Personalized Gift
Choosing a personalized gift shouldn’t feel intimidating. I always use the “three-question rule” before I add anything to a gift guide or click add-to-cart for someone I love:
Will they actually use it?
Practicality matters. A personalized blanket? Yes. A random knick-knack they’ll tuck in a drawer? Probably not.
Does this reflect something meaningful?
A monogram is one thing, but a custom piece that nods to a shared memory, favorite place, or family tradition feels even more thoughtful.
Is the customization high quality?
Look for retailers with good reviews, and high-res examples of finished products, and check what the materials are used. Customer reviews with finished products they received are even better! Personalized gifts can’t be returned, so craftsmanship matters. (I once bought a customized blanket, and had I read the reviews, it would have saved me some money.)
FAQ’s
Most custom items require extra production time, especially around the holidays. Ordering 1–3 weeks in advance is ideal. For handmade items (like Etsy pieces), aim for 3–5 weeks to be safe.
Not always. Many retailers offer personalization for a small upcharge or even free. The price mostly depends on the materials and level of customization, not the personalization itself.
Stick to simple and timeless: initials, last names, coordinates of a meaningful place, birthstones, or important dates. When in doubt, check the recipient’s home style or jewelry preferences and choose a design that matches their vibe.
Monogrammed totes, personalized jewelry, custom planners, engraved vanity cases, and custom home illustrations are some of the most appreciated gifts.
Engraved watches, monogrammed travel gear, custom drinkware, personalized leather wallets, and custom map prints of special places are consistently popular.
I hope you found something perfect for that special someone!
