Crossbody bags are one of those wardrobe staples I come back to again and again. I love that they are hands free, comfortable, and easy to wear, but still polished enough to make an everyday outfit feel pulled together. Over the years, I have owned and tried more crossbody bags than I can count, from trend-driven styles to classic silhouettes, and I have learned pretty quickly which ones actually get used and which ones sit in the closet. The best crossbody bags are the ones that feel good to wear all day, hold what you need without feeling bulky, and work with more than one season of outfits. I once heard a quote (or perhaps a meme, I’m not sure) that a woman told her child “If you are ever lost or in trouble, look for the moms wearing crossbody bags. They will know how to get you help.” It’s always made me chuckle as we crossbody moms all know that we are women wearing 1,000 different hats at any time of day, and crossbody bags are part of arsenal of tools that allow us to get sh*t done!
In this guide, I am sharing the best crossbody bags for women in 2026, with a focus on styles that truly work in real life. I am partial to medium sized crossbody bags as if I have one too big – I end up stuffing it with useless stuff. Anything too small then I don’t have room for my 7 different forms of lip care, kleenex packets, loose tylenol and mini notebook. IYKYK . So while many of these are the bags I consistently reach for when I am running errands, traveling, heading to games, or just need something easy that still looks put together – some of these are also recommendations that my friends told me about. Additionally, if you tend to gravitate toward classic, designer-inspired styles, you might also enjoy my roundup of Coach bag dupes, which highlights similar looks at a more approachable price point. And if you prefer lightweight, functional bags that still feel elevated, my MZ Wallace bag dupes post is a great place to explore practical options that are easy to wear every day. There are quite a few quilted bags that also work as crossbody – I’m even linking a few I really like below!
Below are the crossbody bags that have earned a permanent spot in my rotation or been recommended to me by my stylish and adorable friends, starting with my most-worn and most-recommended styles. I’ve also included a few that are on my wishlist with the hopes I’ll be adding them to my own cart in 2026. Oh, and when you think you shouldn’t spend a lot on a bag, I hear you. But just remember, it’s something that’s with you day-in, day-out and gets used a TON! Go ahead and splurge if you can. It’s just an obvious accessory part of your daily routine so you deserve to have the right bag for you. I’m always apt to spend a bit more on three staples: bags, bras and mattresses. Lol. However, I’m trying to keep a majority of these under $200, but am recommending a few slurge-worthy crossbodies here and there.
My Favorite Crossbody Bags

The Dakota Saddle Crossbody Bag
I’m starting with Madewell because it is the brand I return to time and time again. They make such high-quality products that last a really long time and can take a beating while keeping on trucking. Several that I’ve purchased are no longer being made, but still reside in my closet. But this one I got for Christmas, and I’m beyond happy with it. It’s a little smaller than I normally choose, but she’s a beauty.
The Sak Loz Feliz Crossbody Bag
I purchased this in June for a 10-day trip my family took to Maine. I wanted something slightly unassuming, able to fit my camera and things like sunscreen, small water bottle, etc. And I didn’t want anything too structured when I wore it on easy hikes. But this has become one of my favorite everyday bags! I carried Sak bags back in the late 90s and I was excited to see they are coming back.
Free People Quilted Carryall
Love love LOVE this bag. It is reminiscent of MZ Wallace bags for a much better price point. I wear this during the week for casual school runs, errands and everything in between. It has such a cool girl vibe. I don’t know if it would be something I’d carry to the office or work, but for all things chill and casual – for sure. I added a cute cherry charm to mine to make it a bit more personal.
Lululemon All Night Festival Bag
I know.. I know… everyone loves the Lululemon belt bags (but I feel like they are making their way out). But this is the new fabulous belt bag in my humble opinion. And to really convince you, my super stylish friend Sarah swears by this bag. It’s a great size, and as Sarah said “It fits just a little bit more than your average crossbody bag.”
Suede Woven Crossbody Bag
Woven bags are having a moment and this one does not disappoint. It comes with the adorable scarf and pony charm making it super unique in comparison to other crossbody bags. Because it’s such a great price point, I have it in both the brown and olive green. Note: The longer strap isn’t SUPER long. I had to put an extra notch toward the end of the strap to get some extra length, and it still sits a bit above my waist (however, I have a very long torso). So while you can wear this crossbody, you may find you want to use a longer crossbody strap.
Tumi Teghan Crossbody Bag
Another VERY stylish friend recommendation (thank you, Maureen!), she swears by Tumi bags. While they are on the pricier end with many of the cutest coming in at just under $300, they are worth every penny. If you are familiar with the brand – Tumi, you know what quality products they make. This particular crossbody bag is great because it has multiple pockets. The best part? They will monogram it for you. Pro Tip: Maureen suggested looking for a Tumi outlet store near you or checking Nordstrom Rack, as they often have them for reduced prices.
Checkered Nylon Crossbody Bag
For those of you that still like the look of a belt bag but want a more 2026 version, this little gal is a great option and a fantastic price point. It’s super durable, and it holds a lot more than you think it would. I was hesitant that it wouldn’t be big enough but I’m able to throw a ton in it. I also like that it’s easy to clean. It comes in a ton of different colors in the check pattern.
BAGSMART Crossbody Mini Tote
Another trendy quilted look, BAGSMART make really good quality bags for a very affordable price. This is a great little bargain bag and it does not look inexpensive in person. Some of other quilted crossbody bags do not have the top handle option, which is why I gravitated to this particular bag.
Athleta Sherpa Mini Crescent Bag
A lovely little crossbody bag for winter (it does also come in recycled nylon) – I do love Sherpa accessories for the colder months. It is on the smaller size but fits a wallet, phone and all other small essentials. A super cute lightweight crossbody to run around town.
Baggallini Securtex Anti-Theft Activity Crossbody Bag
This is my go-to travel crossbody bag. It’s definitely small, but I like small when I’m sightseeing. It features slash-resistant panels, a double-cable-cut-resistant strap, RFID protection, and locking zippers. It’s perfect for big cities or crowded areas when you vacation. Baggallini has an entire line of anti-theft bags so if this particular shape/size isn’t for you, check out their other offerings.
Pom Pom London City Bag
I cannot say enough about Pom Pom London bags. I LOVE them. I have this city bag (but I chose the sherpa to carry in the winter months). They come in gorgeous colors and different styles if you want something other than the standard city bag. I really like the suede line as well!
What To Consider When Buying A Crossbody Bag
Size & Capacity
It might be small, but it still needs to fit your life. Think about what you carry daily:
- Phone, wallet, keys, earbuds?
- Do you need space for a mini makeup pouch or sunglasses?
- Are you traveling and need space for a passport and boarding pass?
A bag that’s too tiny can be frustrating, and one that’s too big might feel bulky.
Strap Length & Adjustability
One of the biggest perks of a crossbody bag is hands-free comfort, so make sure the strap can:
- Adjust to your height (especially if you wear it across your body vs on one shoulder)
- Sit comfortably without digging in
- Be swapped for a different strap if you want to change up the look
Pro tip: Adjustable straps mean one bag works for multiple outfits and occasions.
Material & Durability
Leather gives a classic, elevated vibe — but lighter materials like canvas or nylon can be more practical for everyday wear or travel.
- Leather: Timeless, structured, ages beautifully
- Canvas/Nylon: Lightweight, easy to clean, casual
- Vegan leather: Stylish and animal-friendly
Think about how you’ll use the bag, daily errands, work, weekend travel, or nights out, and choose a material that fits.
Organization & Pockets
Crossbody bags come with all sorts of interior layouts:
- Zippered pockets = safer storage for valuables
- Slip pockets = quick organization for cards and receipts
- External pockets = super accessible places for your phone or keys
If you’re all about staying organized, pick one with smart compartments.
Style & Versatility
Your bag should work with your wardrobe. Consider:
- A neutral color for everyday wear
- A bold hue or texture to elevate simple outfits
- Classic silhouettes that won’t feel dated
Also, think about outfits and seasons. A sleek black crossbody can go from weekend errands to date night.
