New Fiction: February 2026

It’s that time, my fellow readers! My favorite picks for new fiction for the month. I”m a little late in posting this so we’ve already had one February Tuesday release date and today is the second release, but hey, that means there’s already a group of books released and ready for your big smart brain. January had me reading quite a bit. My post is timely as I have my bookclub this evening. so I’m all in on the books today! I read two from my January book recommendations: Meet The Newmans by Jennifer Niven and Dear Debbie by Freida McFadden. I thoroughly enjoyed Meet The Newmans. Dear Debbie was entertaining, but it felt very similar to some of the other books I’ve read by Freida McFadden. But the book I enjoyed 10000000%? The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. I cannot speak highly enough of this book. It was sweet, funny, touching and beautifully written – ten out of ten. All in all I read seven books:
- Julie Chan Is Dead by Liann Zhang
- Best Offer Wins by Marisa Kashino
- The Mad Wife by Meagan Church
- The Impossible Fortune (Thursday Murder Club) by Richard Osman
- Meet The Newmans by Jennifer Nivens
- The Correspondent by Virginia Evans
- Dear Debbie by Frieda McFadden
My favorites? The Impossible Fortune and The Correspondent. And I have to say, Julie Chan Is Dead was pretty entertaining. As for February new fiction releases, there are a few I’m pretty excited about! It’s a good mix of historical fiction, thriller/mystery, and literary. I am not a huge romance or sci-fi fiction lover (no pun intended) so you generally won’t see a lot of those recommendations from me. So if that’s what you’re after, you may want to check out Smart Bitches, Trashy Books for romance recos or SF Book Reviews for science fiction (and horror).
Here are the 13 February 2026 fiction releases that I’m excited to check out. Several of these I’ve already got on hold at my library but just ordered the first one on the list!
