Pottery Barn & Ethan Allen Chair Dupes: Affordable Lookalikes I Love

pottery barn feature image

With the state of the economy at the moment, I have really been trying to stick to budgets. Well, if i’m being honest, I’m always trying to stick to budgets no matter what’s going on in the world, but I’m not always super successful. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know that I do like to share my favorite dupe and lookalike finds. If there is something I can share that helps you stick to your own budget, consider me more than happy to do so!

I recently wrote about when to buy a dupe and when to buy an original. It’s a good guide for discerning when dupes make sense and when to splurge on the real thing. I do talk about how if something is going to be used every day, you should likely go with the brand name or the original, as they are usually built a bit better, but I was talking more about handbags, shoes, etc. Furniture is a different story. When you’re spending a bit more on a piece of furniture, the dupes are often really well made. Yes, there is a reason Arhaus and Pottery Barn price their chairs so high – they are great craftsmanship and you are getting what you paid for. But for me, I’m a big fan of mixing high and low. Go ahead and get that Ethan Allen chaise lounge and style it with a lookalike side table that you can find on Wayfair for 1/2 the cost. And if you’re sticking to a set budget, go for the dupes! Like I said, many of them are very well made and will hold up over time. If you are inspired by big brands like Serena & Lily, West Elm and Lulu & Georgia, get familiar with the looks that you love the most and start searching for similar looks at places like Amazon, Wayfair, Joss & Main and even Ikea. However, feel free to bookmark my Affordable Finds section so that you can come back often as I can do a lot of the hunting and sourcing for you! Two of my posts, Lighting Dupes and Serena & Lily Bedroom Dupes get a lot of traffic so feel free to hunt around my site for some of my favorite lookalike finds!

I recently got two armchairs for our bedroom. I was loving the look of the Ethan Allen Brant Chair but I did not want to spend over $3,000 for two chairs that are more for decorative purposes than actual use (although I do find I sit in them much more than I had originally anticipated). I found a chair on Amazon with the same general look for less than $300 each. It has great support, is comfortable and sturdy, and looks like I spent a lot more. So, go for it! Just remember that reviews and ratings are your best friend when sourcing dupes and lookalikes. I knew the chairs I got would be good, as they had an average rating of 4.7 stars and very positive feedback in the comments section.

Pottery Barn & Ethan Allen Inspired Chairs That I Love

I will start with what I purchased myself! The Ethan Allen Brant Chair comes in just under $2,000 and the chair I found which looks like it was inspired by the Brant Chair, or one similar, was less than $300 (pricing may vary).

Leather chairs are beautiful in any home, but they can be quite pricey. Pottery Barn has a great swivel roll-arm leather chair that’s gorgeous but it can also range in price up to $2,100 depending on the size and detailing you select. I found a similar chair at At Home. While there are definite differences, the At Home chair is faux leather, and it does not swivel. If you don’t care about those factors, it’s a really great dupe for just under $350. There are several reviews that include photos of the chair in people’s home and it looks fantastic! Again, if it’s the overall look of the Pottery Barn chair you’re going for, this dupe is a great option.

I love this Pottery Barn Carlisle Chair. It’s so nice and big and comfy and there is a reason it is one of their best sellers. This chair ranges in price from $1,200 to a little over $2,000. I found one that is super similar in look – like I was borderline surprised at how much they look alike. The dupe comes in just under $350. Note: It has 4.2 average stars and I usually try and stick with reviews that are about 4.4 stars or more, but since this one isn’t that far off I wanted to include it. Most of the positive reviews say it’s comfortable and a good value for the money. It seems the more negative reviews are around the actual shape of the chair – so that leads me to believe it’s not necessarily a quality or comfort issue as much as a personal preference or folks not doing enough pre-purchase research on size specs at it pertains to their room.

I mean… I can’t with this deal. Your socks are going to be knocked off when I tell you how much you can get this dupe swivel chair for! The Ethan Allen Baylee Barrel-Back swivel chair is a cool nod to an art-deco vibe with its clean lines. At the time of publishing this it’s currently on sale for $1,600 and normally retails around $2,000. I found this lookalike for just under $200!!!! Come ON! With mostly 5-star reviews, you can’t go wrong with this accent chair dupe.

A great mid century modern option, the Pottery Barn Atwood Chair is where I started looking for the bedroom chairs I was interested in. I like the nice clean lines and minimal look that wouldn’t overtake a room. The Atwood Chair retails for $1,200 and the dupe is just under $100. There are some differences: you obviously get what you pay for when you can’t see the screws in the Pottery Barn chair and the cushions seem a bit more robust. But if that’s the look you’re going for and you’re not wanting to spend a ton, you really can’t go wrong with the lookalike chair. I don’t think anyone would ever guess it’s just less than $100. I sure wouldn’t.

I do love a wingback chair. They are so elegant and regal, and just add class to any room. The Pottery Barn Delancey Chair is spectacular with its roll arms and nailhead accents. It retails for just under $1,000. I did find a great alternative that actually comes in a set! You get two chairs for a little under $400. Obviously the dupe does not have the nailhead detailing and you do not have the breath and depth of fabric options you’d get at Pottery Barn, but if you’re looking for a great set that looks similar wo the Delancey Chair, this one is for you!

There’s nothing like a good recliner and I do not have any in my home but my goal is to get a couple for my living room! The only thing I don’t like about recliners is when they look obviously like… recliners. The Ethan Allen Conover Roll-Aarm Recliner has a timeless look that is also both inviting and cozy. The dupe looks SO similiar! The Ethan Allen version, retailing just under $3,000, comes with both manual and automatic versions, but the lookalike is just manual. The Barcalounger Owen recliner lookalike is not the most mind-blowing budget find but at $550 that is an exceptionally good price for a recliner.

The Pottery Barn Swivel Chair is very sleek and modern. This is a great accent chair with a classic barrel-back design. While the dupe is not as close as some of the others, it’s still a pretty close comparison and definitely conveys the same design/look/feel. The PB Balboa swivel chair is anywhere from $999 – $5,000 depending on the size, fabric and cushion options. The dupe rolls in at about $250.

A modern take on the wingback chair, the Ethan Allen Julliard Modern Barrel-Back Wing Chair is Scandanavian-inspired and the full retail price is around $2,400. This lookalike is pretty darn good for just under $450. Yes, the design is slightly different, and the scale of the chair is a touch smaller, but I think it does a great job of those clean Scandinavian/modern lines.

I love all rattan and cane furniture. I don’t know why but it feels nostalgic while still being classic with a hint of whimsy. The Pottery Barn Atwood Accent chair is new and the coastal boho vibes on are on point! It’s priced at a little under $1,200. The dupe I found has the same coastal vibe and makes for a great inexpensive accent chair for less than half the cost than the Pottery Barn chair.

This type of chair reminds me of a dark-wood-paneled home library or study. The smell of wood smoke and tabacco – a whole Ralph Lauren vibe. The Pottery Barn version is obviously made of real leather and ranges from about $1,900 to $4,500. While the dupe isn’t one of the more 1:1 lookalikes it definately has the same vibe – that same look and feel. The lookalike is faux leather, but is an outstanding choice as a budget pick at under $400., it defini

Things to Consider When Buying Dupes

Do dupes look cheap in real life?

Not if you’re picky. The trick is to check dimensions, materials, and reviews before you click add to cart. Stick to natural textures (rattan, linen, jute, light woods) and neutral tones, these instantly read “coastal chic” even at a lower price point.

Can I mix dupes with the real thing?

Absolutely. In fact, it’s one of the best ways to nail that Pottery Barn or Ethan Allen look without overspending. Splurge on a few pieces and fill in the rest with well-chosen dupes. Unless someone is an interior designer, it’s highly unlikely anyone will know the difference.

How close will a chair dupe look to the original?

Some dupes are surprisingly close in overall shape and feel, while others just nod to the trend. Differences usually show up in fabric quality, cushion density, wood finish, or small design details.

What should I look for when buying a chair dupe online?

Pay close attention to dimensions, materials, and customer photos. Seat height, depth, and cushion firmness can vary widely, and these details matter just as much as how the chair looks.

Do chair dupes last as long as the originals?

Not always. Higher-end chairs often use denser foam and more durable frames. That said, many dupes hold up well for everyday use, especially in lower-traffic spaces.

Are chair dupes a good option for renters or frequent movers?

Yes. Dupes are often lighter, easier to replace, and less stressful to move than high-end furniture, making them a smart choice for more flexible living situations.
