Stylish Home Decor Gift Ideas Under $50

I don’t know about you, but I’ve often been invited to someone’s home for dinner, a party or a housewarming and I know I should take a hostess gift but never know what to take. I’ve also pondered what to get my mother, a friend, a teacher, a neighbor (you catch my drift) for birthdays, holidays, etc when it feels like they already have everything or I’m just plain clueless on what they’d actually like. Home decor gifts are a great universal way to say thank you or surprise your loved one on their special occasion as they can range from universally liked to unique but seem to always be quite practical. I can’t think of anyone that doesn’t delight in receiving a candle or a that perfectly pretty vase.

I recently gifted a friend of mine a candle warmer and candle for her birthday and (I think) it was a hit! I normally give girlfriends jewelry, skincare, make up or seasonally themed gifts and I was growing tired of gifting the same thing over and over. It occurred to me that home decor gifts are just as fun and desired as the best new chunky gold earrings or pretty lipstick.

Home decor gifts can sometimes prove tricky if you don’t know someone’s style super well, the colors of their home, their interests or their general vibe. New neighbor moved in and you want to give them a welcome gift but you haven’t the slightest clue about their style? Go for a candle or an olive oil gift set. It’s generic enough to please almost anyone yet still feels personal and thoughtful. Is your best friend’s birthday coming up and you know she is obsessed with gingham and the color blue? Get specific with beautiful blue gingham patterned linen cocktail napkins. Know that your gardening-enthusiast mom loves books but don’t know what a good home decor gift would be for her? Go for a chic coffee table about beautiful flowers and gardens. Home decor gifts can be as generic or as personal as you’d like which is the fun of gifting things that make a person’s home look and feel comfortable and lovely.

Don’t know where to begin looking for gifts under $50? Well look no further! We have compiled a great list of home decor gift ideas to help make your life easier.

Candles & Things as Home Decor Gift Ideas

Let’s start with the most universally loved home decor gift – the candle! Want to make it more personal? Gift a scent that goes with the season you’re giving the gift or find out the recipients favorite smells and go for that. Gifting in summer? Go with a fresh scent like lemon or verbena. Gifting in the fall? Pumpkin Spice all the way! Your bestie has a sweet tooth? Gift her something that smells like warm vanilla. These are a few of my favorite candles and candle accessories:

Books

I recently wrote a post on the best coffee table books that look beautiful sitting on an ottoman, bookshelf or end table — I love the vibe books bring to any and all spaces. There is so much you can do with gifting books! Someone who likes to cook? Get her the latest innovative cookbook. A guy that loves cars? A coffee table book on vintage cars. A simple book of poetry paired with a bouquet of wildflowers? You’d be my favorite guest of all time with that home decor gift.

Barware and Cocktail Necessities

You really can’t go wrong wtih barware and cocktail home decor gift items. People that entertain usually like to have nice barware displayed. I have the below cocktail napkins and I love everytime I put them out for our guests. Serveware & Decorative Pieces

My achilles heel are serveware and decorative tabletop items. I have way more than I should have, but how can you not want to display a beautiful basket used to hold fruit, or decorative pitcher that can sit out on a counter as a decorative piece when it’s not being used. And don’t get me started on the fabulous butter dish below to give to your favorite whimsical friend. So many everyday serveware pieces can also be used as home decor.

Comfort Goods

We often don’t splurge on comfort items for ourselves, so to receive them as a home decor gift from a friend or loved one is always a welcome surprise. A decorative throw blanket that is useful but also chic, that fancy handsoap that while it may not be considered “home decor” per say, adds that extra element of luxe to any sink, and ofcourse – you cannot go wrong with a beautiful vase.

Cooking & Food

And last but not least – home decor gifts for your favorite foodie friends and family. Truffle oil that sit out and decorate a corner of a kitchen counter, sleek salt and pepper mills for their dining room table and ofcouse, a decorative olive oil pourer is such an elegant touch rather than having a plastic bottle sit on a counter.
