Weekend Wrap-Up: March 2
We got some more pretty snow on Friday and it made me realize that I’m actually not ready for winter to be over. The cozy warm nights with a roaring fire where we are all cuddled up on the couch. Someday I know those evenings with all three of us will be a distant memory so I try and soak up as much of that goodness as I can. It also seems everytime this year I start to feel nostalgic that we only have three months left of school. This year is hitting a little harder as we will be saying goodbye to elementary school. While I know it brings fun changes with middle school and growing up, I’m sure going to miss those little kid days. But enough blubbering!

Friday we holed up on the coach to watch Mrs. Doubtfire (A VERY funny movie for any 10 year old boy, I might add.) Saturday brought piano lessons, errands and a trip to our favorite library. My son did an experiment in science where you clean pennies with vinegar, salt and lemon juice so we were busy trying to clean pennies to see if he had any that were “ancient” and worth something. And Sunday, well, Sunday was for cleaning and catching up on watching Tehran (a timely watch, I suppose).
A few links and snippets I’m happy to share with you:
We are planning a short trip to Williamsburg, VA for our spring break. My son is learning about the colonies and American Revolution so it seems like there’s no time like the present! I ordered these car garbage bags to have on-hand for our road trip. It gets pretty darn messy with all those snack wrappers, drink bottles, and whatever else my little squirrel in the backseat seems to make a mess out of.
Speaking of spring break, I recently wrote a post about the spring break must-haves for any busy mom. Check it out and you may find something you weren’t thinking about taking along. Any shared wisdom to make life easier for all of us is a good thing!
We are big fans of salmon in our house, and I stumbled across this salmon bowl poke recipe. This was a huge hit and no doubt will make it onto our weekly menu rotation quite often.
My favorite pair of jeans were accidentally ripped last week and I was so bummed! However, it gave me the excuse to get these jeans and I was not disappointed. Soft, forgiving but universally flattering.
I listened to a couple of Audibles last week, but started reading the hardcover of The View From Lake Como by Adriana Trigiani. I’ve loved all her other novels, and so far this one is just as good as the rest.
Spring clothes are on my mind. I love how much rollneck sweaters remind me of the 90s (and have that whole trending Carolyn Bessette vibe), and this rollneck sweater from The Gap is high on my list. I love it in the yellow, but it’s unfortunately sold out in my size, so I may get it in the pink.
My skin has been super dry lately and I know I should keep a humidifier by my bed. However, a friend suggested Medicube to me for my face. So I just bought the Triple Collagen Cream and the Pink Peptide Serum. We’ll see how it goes… at this point I’m ready to just slather Vaseline on my face and be done with it.
Have a fantastic first week of March. Let’s all hope for in like a lion, out like a lamb!
