My Favorite Birkenstock Clog & Loafer Dupes

Okay, friends. I have a wildly popular post about Birkenstock dupes and lookalikes, but it focuses mostly on the summer styles. I do have a few nods to the Birkenstock clog (the Boston) along with Buckley and Naples dupes, but i really do focus more on the warm-weather options. So this, is my love letter to all you folks that love your Birks, even in the winter months.

So this is my love letter to all of you who love your Birks even when it’s 30 degrees outside. Because apparently Birkenstock season is now…all year? I sure do and have been wearing Birkenstocks since high school (yes, I realize I’m letting my age show here and I am more than happy to do so!)

I don’t know if they’re technically new, but I was surprised to see a couple of Birkenstock styles I hadn’t really noticed before, including the Tracy and Santa Clarita. Both are adorable Mary Jane styles, which feels particularly timely since Mary Janes have been everywhere this fall and look like they’re sticking around into 2027. I won’t be getting into those new styles in this post, but hey! Maybe you’ll get a third Birks dupes post from me, lol.

And while I love the originals, Birkenstocks can get expensive pretty quickly, especially once you start convincing yourself you need a summer pair, a clog, a shearling pair and maybe a Mary Jane too. So I went looking for the best winter Birkenstock dupes and affordable alternatives that give you a similar look for less. I like to mix and match. I have the Boston Chunky Birkenstocks, but then I also got a pair of shearling lined Boston lookalikes, and I am beyond happy with both of them!

Here are a some of my favorites when it comes to “winter” style Birkenstocks and the dupes and lookalikes that were inspired by the iconic Birkenstock styles.

Birkenstock Boston Clog

This is your classic tried and true Birkenstock clog that has been around forever. As the reigning champion of “ugly-chic” footwear, the Birkenstock Boston clog has cemented its status as a timeless fashion phenomenon. Seamlessly blending cozy utility with an effortlessly cool aesthetic, this closed-toe slip-on has transcended its 1970s utilitarian roots to become a permanent fixture in modern wardrobes. Loved by celebrities, college students, and minimalist style-icons alike, the Boston is defined by its signature adjustable buckle strap and a textured, earthy look that grounds any outfit. Its true genius lies in its year-round versatility, looking just as natural paired with breezy linen trousers in the summer as it does styled with chunky knit socks and denim in the fall. In a fashion landscape that increasingly prioritizes practical luxury, the Boston clog remains the ultimate symbol of laid-back, street-style sophistication. Keep in mind, it now comes in a variety of varied detailed styling like the Boston Chunky, the Boston Big Buckle, shearling lined, and the Boston Rivets.

Alternatives Inspired by the Birkenstock Boston Clog

These are my picks for the best dupes for this clog. Yes, actual Birkenstocks are great as they conform to your foot and are SO comfortable, but I really do find some of the budget-friendly alternatives. can be up there in terms of quality, comfort and style. What do I look for when I’m looking for a Boston dupe? I try to make sure it has a cork and latex base, the classic closed toe design, usually suede or faux suede material and the adjustable strap that goes across the top. I’ve included a few lookalikes that I think give that same vibe for less (and I worked to include alternatives to the Boston Chunky, Boston Big Buckle, and shearling lined).

Just a sidenote.. my go-to brands for Birkenstock alternatives are usually Project Cloud, White Mountain, and Cushionaire. I’ve purchased all three and they are great alternatives. Anything outside of those 3 brands has been recommended to me by friends OR I’m recommending them based off reviews.

Birkenstock Naples Clog

If the Boston is Birkenstock’s classic casual clog, the Naples feels like its slightly more polished cousin. The Birkenstock Naples takes the familiar cork footbed and easy slip-on shape and gives it more of a loafer feel, most notably with the moccasin-style stitching and strap detail across the top. It’s still very much a Birkenstock, but a little less “garden clog” and a little more actual shoe.

That’s really what the Naples is known for: combining the comfort and relaxed feel people love about Birkenstocks with details borrowed from a traditional loafer. The result is a clog that looks especially good with straight-leg jeans, cords and casual trousers, making it an easy option once sandal season is over. If you like the Boston but want something that feels a bit more substantial and pulled together for fall and winter, the Naples is definitely one to look at.

Alternatives Inspired by the Birkenstock Naples Clog

The Naples is a little harder to dupe than the Boston because it’s really the details that make the shoe. Look for clogs with that same loafer-meets-mule shape, a substantial cork-style footbed, moccasin stitching and some sort of strap or hardware across the top. I think the best Naples alternatives lean more “loafer” than traditional clog, which is exactly what makes this style feel a little more polished for fall and winter. I’ve found several below that give you a very similar look without the Birkenstock price tag.

Birkenstock Amsterdam Clog

The Birkenstock Amsterdam might be one of the more understated styles in the Birkenstock lineup, and that’s probably exactly why I like it. Unlike the Boston with its signature buckle, the Amsterdam is incredibly simple. No hardware, no straps, no fuss. Just a softly rounded, slightly asymmetric upper and that familiar Birkenstock footbed underneath.

The original Amsterdam is a backless mule-style clog made from wool felt, which gives it a very cozy, almost slipper-like feel. It’s definitely one of those shoes that could live by the back door for wearing around the house, but I also love the idea of it with jeans, a chunky sweater and socks once the weather gets cold. The wool felt is naturally insulating and breathable, so this one really does make sense as a fall and winter Birkenstock.

Then there’s the newer Amsterdam Wrapped, which is basically the Amsterdam reimagined as a fully closed shoe. Instead of leaving the heel exposed, the upper continues around the entire foot, giving you more coverage and a little more security at the heel. The suede versions are particularly good looking because the suede continues down around the midsole, creating this really clean, almost seamless look.

Alternatives Inspired by the Birkenstock Amsterdam Clogs

The Amsterdam is actually a pretty easy look to recreate because it’s so wonderfully simple. For the classic mule, look for soft felt or suede uppers, a rounded toe and a substantial cork-style footbed without a lot of extra hardware or detailing. Amsterdam Wrapped alternatives have that same minimalist feel but with a closed heel and a little more coverage, making them especially good for colder weather. I’ve rounded up options inspired by both versions below, including cozy felt mules, suede slip-ons and fully enclosed styles that give you that same relaxed Birkenstock look for less.

Birkenstock Buckley Clog

The Birkenstock Buckley is another one of those styles that takes the traditional Birkenstock clog and makes it feel a little more like a “real” shoe. It has a moccasin-inspired upper, visible stitching and a tongue-and-buckle detail across the top, giving it a slightly preppy, almost loafer-like look. You still get the easy slip-on back and classic Birkenstock footbed, but the overall effect feels a little more polished than the Boston.

And yes, the Buckley and Naples look VERY similar at first glance. The easiest way to tell them apart is in the detailing. The Buckley has a more traditional moccasin construction with a defined tongue and an adjustable buckle strap, while the Naples has a cleaner loafer-inspired upper with a wider strap across the vamp (and no buckle). I think of the Buckley as the more classic, slightly rustic of the two, while the Naples feels a bit sleeker and more streamlined. Either way, the Buckley is particularly good for fall and winter. The closed toe and substantial suede upper look right at home with denim, cords, chunky sweaters and socks, while the open back keeps it firmly in that easy Birkenstock clog category.

Are Birkenstock Dupes Worth It?

I think this really comes down to what you’re looking for. If you’ve worn Birkenstocks for years and know you love the fit and support of the original footbed, the real thing may very well be worth the investment. They’re one of those shoes people tend to wear absolutely to death. But if you’re mostly drawn to the look, want to try one of the newer styles without spending quite as much, or, like me, suddenly find yourself thinking you need more than one pair, there are some REALLY good alternatives out there. And honestly, some of these are surprisingly close.

When I’m looking for a Birkenstock dupe, I’m paying attention to more than whether it vaguely resembles the original. The shape matters. So does the footbed, the thickness of the sole, the hardware and the material. A good lookalike should capture what made you like the original shoe in the first place, not just slap a buckle on a clog and call it a day.

For fall and winter especially, I’d also pay attention to material. Suede, felt, leather-look finishes and shearling or faux-shearling linings tend to make these styles feel much more seasonal and, frankly, a little more expensive than they are. Add a good pair of socks, jeans or cords and a sweater and you’ve basically got my ideal cold-weather uniform.
