Weekend Wrap-Up: April 20

This past weekend officially kicked off lacrosse season… a cold, rainy, wet lacrosse season thus far, but, it has commenced. While the team lost by a crazy amount, I was super proud of those boys walking off the field with big smiles on their faces and their heads held high. You know you’ve got good coaches and a good team when they can still have fun no matter the score. However, for all of their sakes, I hope they at least get a goal next game.

Spring cleaning mode also commenced over the weekend. I’ve been putting it off and normally start in March, so I got it into high gear. I washed all of our couch cushion covers and was mildly horrified by the amount of dirt that leached out of them. And when I say midly, I mean majorly. We have pets, so it’s a given they are going to get dirty, but holy cow. I was too nervous to put them into the washing machine so I let them soak in our laundry room sink. I used a little detergent, soaked, rinsed and then soaked with just water. Everything I read said NOT to put them in the dryer but I was feeling daring… I’m happy to report that they did just fine in the dryer and did not shrink. Be sure to read the fabric care instructions if you’re doing this as I cannot safely say all covers will be a-ok in a dyer cycle.

In between birthday party drop-offs, lacrosse games and cleaning, we snuck out to see Project Hail Mary. I finished the Audible last week and was blown away by how much I liked the book. I’m not usually a fan of fiction set in space but it was so funny and tender that I sort of forgot the story was centered around a space mission. I’m also happy to report that the movie did the book justice. Fabulous! No Sunday would be complete without a trip to Aldi to meal prep for the week, along with getting caught up on the latest episodes of Rooster. I don’t think I’ve ever not loved something Steve Carrell is in.

Have a fantastic week! Every Monday I tack up a quote that I find inspiring to motivate me each week. This week it’s “Sometimes good things fall apart so better things could fall together.” Thank you, Marilyn Monroe, for that gentle reminder.

With Earth Day coming up, I printed out this list of fun things to do with kids to celebrate Earth Day and protecting our environment. I’m hoping we can check at least one off the list this week.

When deep cleaning my couch cushions, I pre-treated the more obvious stains with this spot cleaner. I saw it in the housekeeping cart at a hotel once and made a mental note to get some. Hotels see some gnarly stains so I figured it was a good one. Yep, it sure is.

Sale Alert! Wayfair is having their Way Day sale April 25 – 27. I’ve got my fingers crossed for some good patio/backyard deals.

Two dresses I have in my cart for summer? This adorable little dress with a beach scene motif for casual weekdays and this fit and flare dress which I cannot believe is under $30.

I am currently reading this book, and I’m having a hard time putting it down. I have to say, the Read with Jenna book picks are usually pretty good. I like her selections much more than some of the other celebrity bookclub picks. (No offense, Reese.)

Trying to add more fiber to your diet? I am, and I find myself lacking in that department. This article is a quick read for easy ways to incorporate additional fiber into your life.

Have a great week, friends!
