Weekend Wrap-Up: March 16
We were busy this past weekend! I let the whole week get away from me before writing my weekend wrap-up. GAH! Sometimes a week feels like I’m crawling through mud, others go so fast I’m not sure they happened. We did everything from St. Patrick’s Day parties to filling out March Madness brackets.
Friday evening I made a trip to Trader Joes to get the viral “Trader Joes Takis”. Delish and without all the additives that regular Takis have. Saturday we were on the hunt for rolled ice cream and found our way to Chocomania. It was good… but INCREDIBLY overpriced. (Sorry, Chocomania!). Afterward, I took my son and nephews to the new slide park near us. They had a blast but when I told my 13 year old nephew that I was going to ride the slides the next time we go, he said “No offense, Aunt Abby, but you will probably get hurt.” Oh, how the mighty have fallen!
Sunday was a fantastic St. Patrick’s Day celebration that my mom hosted. So much good food and drinks, and I made, what the kids lovingly called, “Leprechaun Poop” (recipe linked below) and a spinach artichoke dip (recipe also listed below). I had to include a pic of Pippen, the “goodest boy” at the St. Paddy’s Day celebration. 🙂
Things I Made This Week:
- Leprechaun Poop: A HUGE hit with the kids.
- Spinach and Artichoke Dip: A great recipe but make sure you have the cream cheese at room temp before mixing it in. Otherwise it gets clumpy upon baking.
- The Easiest & Best Marinara: Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Gosh is this so good and so easy for a quick weeknight dinner with your choice of pasta.
Things I Read This Week:
- I just finished The View From Lake Como. I do love the author’s other books, but this one wasn’t my favorite. The characters didn’t feel modern and there was an unrealistic focus on the main character needing validation to find herself. I also didn’t get a good sense of the plot, other than the main character talking about how being Italian was her defining purpose in life.
- My aunt lived just outside of DC and was a huge supporter of the arts. She frequently visited the city to enjoy concerts, plays, and music. The decimation of the Kennedy Center (that The New Yorker just covered) would be such a disappointment to her. She loved that venue and all the joy it brought her.
- This poem is the perfect ode to spring.
Things I Bought This Week:
- I am getting into spring cleaning mode and a friend said that this cleaner is a must-have.
- I just signed up for this clothing rental company. They offered a discount for the first two months so I figured I’d give it a try. First shipment comes next week! More to come on what I actually receive and like.
- I am completely obsessed with this lightweight spring belted blazer. I sure hope when it comes it looks as good as it does online.
Have the best day/hour/time you can, friends!
XO, Abby
