Weekend Wrap-Up: March 23

70 degrees on Friday and all the kids in my neighborhood have found their way to our basketball net. Cut to today, Monday the 23rd and it’s 30 degrees and snowing… such is Michigan spring.

We had the revolving door of kids coming in and out on Friday, snuck in a piano lesson and my son then eeked out every bit of daylight joyriding around on his electric scooter that he got for Christmas (thrilled to finally be able to use it.) Saturday morning was a lazy one, with making lemon poppyseed muffins, reading a new book for a couple of delicious hours, and a quiet night at home.

Sunday Funday we went to brunch bingo where I continued my streak of forever being a bingo loser. Saturday afternoon was grocery shopping, comic book hunting and grabbing a few last minute road trip necessities as we get ready to head out for our Spring Break trip this Friday. Speaking of road trip necessities, if you’re taking one too, you might like to take a peek at my post where I rounded up my go-to road trip essentials. Any knowledge I can share to help you have a peaceful, stress-free journey is my pleasure. We’ve taken several road trips, so I’ve had the chance to fine-tune what is helpful (and what’s not worth the money).

Things I Made:

These lemon poppyseed muffins were a huge hit! If only I had remembered to grease the muffin tin as they ended up being more of a muffin top offering once I pried them out of the tin.

I love that fact that my 10-year old son likes to make friendship bracelets. He learned at camp last summer and has loved to make them ever since. It took me back to middle school. We made some spring bracelets with pink, light green and baby blue.

Sunday, after our boozy bingo brunch, I wanted to make something super simple and satisfying. This chicken noodle casserole got two thumbs up from everyone in my house.

Things I Read and Watched:

Nicole Kidman must be the hardest working actress in Hollywood. We started Scarpetta and wow, it’s wild! I will say the Jamie Lee Curtis is by far my favorite character. Between this and The Bear, she has won me over with her kooky characters.

Speaking of tv shows, I started the latest novel, Death at the White Hart, by the author that wrote Broadchurch – adapted into the first tv show I ever watched with Olivia Coleman. So far, so creepy and so so good.

Things I Purchased (or Admired):

I’ve been trying to find some great spring cardigans (if you are too, pop over to my latest post about the best spring sweaters). I popped into Old Navy and saw their cardigans were $42. That seemed steep to me for Old Navy. I ran across the street to Nordstrom Rack and found this lovely little spring cardigan by French Connection for $35. Much better quality for a better price.

I’ve been wanting the Camp Snap CS-Pro camera for quite some time. We are headed out on Spring Break next week and I figured this is the perfect time to try it out since I’ll be documenting our trip. I SO wanted to get the point and shoot video camera, but I’ll just add that to my birthday wish list. 😉

I can’t with these jeans. How stinking cute for spring???

Lacrosse season is upon us and some of those early morning games are chilly. I got this hoodie to throw on as an extra added layer. Basic but cute .

I just ran out of my favorite hair oil and cannot be without it. It smells so delicious that people often ask what the pretty scent is that I’m wearing. It also adds amazing shine to your hair.
