Weekend Wrap-Up: May 18

I’ve missed a few weekends because… well… life. Lacrosse season is still in full tilt, end-of-school-year activities are ramping up (go AWAY spirit week!), and my garden is a complete disaster. And here in Michigan, we went from 40 degree mornings to blazing hot 91 degree afternoons all in the span of a week. I switched my closet over from my winter clothes to summer, was able to finally put the plants I got from Costco in the planters, and the best part? We had our first day out on the lake! My son and nephews got to try out the new tube they got from their grandparents at Christmas. It might be the earliest they’ve been behind the boat as we don’t usually jump in until at least Memorial Day (and that’s iffy, at best). We also discovered the cutest little roadside stand that stocks fresh sourdough and granola. Delish!

In changing my closet over to my summer clothes, I audibly sighed upon seeing some of the same-old same-old clothes that I’ve been wearing since I left working in an office after COVID. Summer clothing is, admittedly, not my favorite. Give me the cozy sweaters, jeans and boots all day long but I have never gotten super excited about warm-weather clothes. But in my disgust with pulling out clothes I’ve been wearing summer after summer, I ended up donating a LOT of them. However, now I’m left with this hodgepodge of random shirts, dresses that may or may not fit, and one really stretched-out bathing suit. I have a few graduation parties coming up, my birthday is in June, and a few concerts are on the horizon, so I expect I’ll slowly be refurbishing my style needs to get ready for summer events. I just bought a dress that I recently featured in my post about cute dresses for graduation guests. (Speaking of graduations, if you are in the thick of attending open houses like we are, you may find my articles on high school grad gift ideas and college grad gift ideas helpful!)

As always, here are the things I’ve been thinking about, reading, watching, cooking, planning, or adding to my cart!

We are huge Survivor fans in our house and are looking forward to watching who wins this week!

I think I have talked about my love of Sorel sandals in this post, but I just purchased this pair and I’m super excited as they will pair well with almost anything.

I am currently reading two books: The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett (who wrote The Help) and Theo of Golden by Allen Levi. Theo of Golden was recommended by a friend and so far it’s great!

This time last year, we were planning a 10-day trip to Maine and oh how I wish we were going back again this summer. If that’s on our itinerary and you’re headed to Bar Harbor, The Salt Cottages are an absolute must for accommodations.

We’re working on sprucing up our backyard to make it feel a little more resort-like and these fence solar panels should be arriving just in time for Memorial Day. If you’re looking for ideas on how to spiff up your own outdoor spaces, head on over to my latest blog post about elevated outdoor decor ideas.

These coastal brass table lamps look so cute sitting on our top of our piano.

I plan to wear these blue pants to my son’s 5th-grade graduation in a couple of weeks. It’s at 9am in an elementary school gymnasium so I figured I can be a bit more casual.

Have a great week, friends!

XO,

Abby
