My Favorite Casual Blazers For Everyday Wear
A couple of years ago I remember telling a friend of mine that blazers were going to “be my thing” all winter. She just sort of stared at me and said, “Ok thank you for the groundbreaking news.” Instantly humbled, I realized blazers are everyone’s “thing” and I was not the first to discover this trend. I don’t even know if you can call it a trend?? They have, seemingly, been a part of our fall and winter closets for as long as I can remember. I think the key now, going into 2027, is to keep them casual and cool.

Gone are the days of of the business-casual blazer. When I first started wearing blazers, they were very structured, tailored, stiff and in solid colors. There is definitely a time and place for the tailored blazers, but I feel now blazers are cool, casual, oversized, and way more comfortable than they’ve ever been.

I’ve seen blazers referred to as the “wardrobe workhorse”, and I feel like nothing more rings true! It’s what I go for when I have no idea what else to wear. Heading out for brunch with my friends? Blazer, tee and jeans. A simple date night? Blazer, leather pants and a camisole. Running some errands but don’t want to head out in your athleisurewear? Heck, pair a blazer with cute sweats and a hoodie. The sky is the limit!!
I personally prefer fun prints & plaids, blazers that look vintage and oversized fits. But you can’t go wrong with your standard wool blazer. Here are some of my top picks for every occasion and price point!

Best Overall Blazer
J.Crew Margauex Blazer
If there is going to be one “workhorse” blazer in my closet, this would be it! I personally have it navy but it also comes in tan, berry, black and dark moss. I love the gold buttons and it’s a classic, polished blazer yet still looks entirely feminine. I went up a size as I like my blazers to be a bit roomier (I do like to wear hoodies under them!) but if you want a very tailored look, stick with your normal size.
Best Oversized Blazer

Oversized blazers (otherwise known as the boyfriend blazer) just look cool. You just have to be careful that they are not TOO oversized. There is something extra casual about the look of this one. H&M has a great budget-friendly version as well!
Best Plaid Blazer
boden Stamford wool blazer
Everything this season is so darn cute at Boden! And this adorable plaid blazer is no exception. We just finished watching the show The Gentlemen and this feels like it’s straight out of their wardrobe department! This is a classic tailored look with welt pockets but the plaid just gives it a bit of whimsy.
Best Blazer For Travel
Spanx ponte oversized blazer
Blazers are a great way to look chic while traveling, especially if you have to go directly from a train or airport directly into a meeting. I always look for a ponte fabric as it has a good stretch and is wrinkle-resistant. I especially like this one as it’s oversized which makes it a bit more comfortable for travel.
Best Blazer That Looks Vintage
Modcloth pepper paisley tuxedo jacket
This may be my favorite one! So much personality. New to ModCloth, I hope it doesn’t sell out. The fun paisley print reminds me of the 70s and is oh-so-glam! Just a fun one to deviate from the everyday neutral blazers.
Best Budget-Friendly Blazer
Prettygarden casual blazer
This is a great option that’s under $50. I’m a fan of PrettyGarden clothing as it’s usually pretty quality for the price. Such an easy budget-friendly way to have one great casual blazer in your closet!
Best Houndstooth Blazer
Z Supply Evan Houndstooth Blazer
I love all things houndstooth for fall and winter! Like plaid, this is a fun, classic print that is very on-trend at the moment. Look like you walk straight out of the Cotswolds in this pretty casual blazer. Pair with trousers, jeans or even a skirt to instantly bring a whole vibe to your look.
Best Classic Black Blazer
A&F Classic suiting blazer
This single-breasted blazer is based on a menswear look. It’s a straight cut, which makes for a slimmer fit so if you’re look for that extra tailored look. It also has matching pants if you want a full look. Great option for work!
A good blazer is one of those pieces that can quietly do a lot of work in your closet. Throw one over a white tee and jeans, add it to trousers and loafers, or layer an oversized style over a sweater when the weather cools down. It gives even the most basic outfit a little more structure without necessarily making it feel dressed up.
And thankfully, there really isn’t just one version of the “perfect” blazer anymore. I love a classic neutral that I can wear year after year, but an oversized fit feels a little more relaxed and current, while plaid and houndstooth are such an easy way to add pattern without venturing too far outside your comfort zone.
If you’re looking to add one to your closet this season, I’d start with the style you can immediately picture yourself wearing with things you already own. The best casual blazers aren’t the ones you save for work or special occasions. They’re the ones you reach for on a random Tuesday when jeans and a tee need just a little something more.
