Trending Now: Chocolate Brown, All My Faves From Sweaters to Flats

If you’ve got a pulse, you’ve likely noticed that chocolate brown is EVERYWHERE this fall. Not that brown isn’t a go-to for fall (it’s always been in my own closet) but some seasons gray or burgundy may hold that top spot for the colors you see popping up in catalogs and storefronts. But chocolate brown seems to be the hottest color for fall (and winter!) 2026 and going into the colder months of 2027.

Black will always be my go-to. Always has and always will be. It’s neutral, unassuming, goes with almost everything and looks chic 9 out of 10 times. However, if you’re someone, like me, that hates to venture away from black, chocolate brown is next best foray into a fall and winter color that keeps you majorly on-trend.

What am I seeing in chocolate brown this fall? You name it. Chocolate brown cardigans, trousers, ballet flats, suede hand bags (man, do i ever love a good chocolate brown suede bag!!), even accessories like scarves and luxurious-looking belts.

Here are my picks for everything I’m loving in chocolate brown for fall 2026. I got inspiration from places like In Style, Vogue and scouring the internet to see what celebrities and other “visible” women are wearing this season.

Sweaters

An Affordable cashmere sweater

This is a best seller for a reason! Quince always has good pricing on really quality products. This mongolian cashmere sweater is a slightly oversized “boyfriend fit” and is great for layering.

mockneck sweater

Another bestseller, this varies a bit from the Quince cashmere sweater as it has a boxier fit and the mock neck (and I’m a sucker for a good mock neck). This looks great paired with jeans and trousers to a slim satin maxi skirt and suede boots.

The Sophia cardigan

This chocolate brown cardigan uses very soft wool for a lovely comfortable feel while still looking so polished with a flattering slim fit. I think a big fear is that wool can be itchy but this sweater is not so it’s even great to wear a tank or camisole underneath.

Chocolate Brown Trousers & Pants

Dark Brown Dress Pants

These are very comfortable trousers in a lovely shade of dark brown. They can be worn for a casual brunch with friends paired with a cozy sweater or perfect for work with a silk button down. The best part? They are a great price point!

365 High rise pleated trousers

I know pleated trousers aren’t everyone’s thing, but I personally love these! This is a classic silohouette that’s relaxed in the hips and thighs so it’s quite forgiving. I’d personally pair these with a pair of sneakers and a hooded sweatshirt and a casual blazer.

Meg Welt Pocket Wide Leg Corduroy Pants

Kut From The Kloth is a brand that I find extremely flattering no matter the style of pant. Perhaps it just fits my body type well, but some of my friends agree that their pants are very flattering. I especially like these as they have a 70s vibe to them and just a bit more hip than your standard trousers.

Chocolate Brown Skirts

Faux leather midi skirt

My mom wore something similar in the late 80s/early 90s (however, hers was real leather, naturally). I love the 90s vibe of this faux leather midi skirt in such a pretty shade of dark brown. It has an elastic back so it’s a bit more forgiving than most traditional leather or faux leather skirts.

maxi slip skirt

Okay, if anything screams the 90s it’s this slip skirt. Pretty sure Gwenyth Paltrow wore these all the time in the 90s and I love the fact that these are very much back in style. Pair with a funnel neck mohair sweater or even a basic graphic tee and you’re good to go. This is a versatile piece that can dressed up or down.

Button down skirt

An adorable a-line skirt in faux suede, it has cute button detailing down the front that feels both structured and soft. (I also LOVE the horse sweater they recommend you pair this with… a great fall outfit!)

Jackets & Coats in Chocolate Brown

West Village Wool Blend Bomber jacket

Is this funnel-neck bomber jacket not the coolest thing ever? I’m obsesesed!! I absolutely LOVE funnel neck jackets, and this one does not disappoint. The fit is somewhat large, but it is not recommended to size down as that oversized look is part of the jacket’s charm.

The Simone Cocoon Coat

This is new this season and it reminds me of a coat I had custom made at a speciality shop in Toronto many years ago. Meaning? This coat will withstand the test of time, even in chocolate brown, as it’s such a classic look that goes with everything. (And another great funnel neck option which is so hot this season as well.)

faux leather cinched waist jacket

This chocolate brown cardigan uses very soft wool for a lovely comfortable feel while still looking so polished with a flattering slim fit. I think a big fear is that wool can be itchy but this sweater is not so it’s even great to wear a tank or camisole underneath.

Suede Bags & Totes in Chocolate Brown

romy suede tote

I love this beautiful tote! It’s slouchy in all the right places, just the right size to use for work or carry casually as an everyday tote. With a magnetic snap closure along with drawstring, all the details make this chocolate brown slouchy tote perfect for the season.

Coach is so hot right now, especially with teen girls and young women. I love that this brand is back! Both the Chelsea and Tabby bags seem to be the “it” bags and I really love this one in chocolate brown suede.

Premium Suede Crossbody bag

I adore this for the price point (under $75). This is made of premium suede leather and is the perfect size for carrying everyday. You can fit all of your essentials and still look really chic and put together while carrying this.

I’m a huge fan of Project Cloud shoes. They look so much like brand name, are made of great quality, are comfortable and have a fantastic price point. I love these suede mules. They are perfect with anything from jeans to a cute skirt.

Lucky step Retro Gum Sole Sneakers

These retro sneakers work paired with jeans, trousers and even a silk slip dress. They are a great price point and are highly rated. You can’t go wrong!

alie ballet flat

These really do remind me of ballet flats complete with the pretty little bow near the toe box. Great for polished looks, it’s both elegant and timeless.

So wear that chocolate brown this season. Make an entire outfit out of it – monochromatic looks are so chic and timeless! Or just throw on a brown sweater paired with your favorite pair of jeans and you’re still rocking that rich, luxe color.
