Life, Lately: 9/25/26
This week was CHILLY here in lower Michigan. I, so badly, wanted to turn on the heat, but we held strong and and just layered up in sweatshirts and blankets at night as it’s back to 70 degree weather next week. Late September is such a fickle bird in terms of weather.
We had a mellow week, which isn’t a bad thing. I made this eggplant parm recipe with eggplants we got from the Farmers Market on Sunday. Speaking of… I’m so sad because this weekend is the last Farmers Market in our little town. It’s our weekend tradition to go every Saturday and when it’s over, it’s a sure sign that fall is in full swing, which is not a bad thing, but I’ll miss seeing all my favorite vendors. We also went to not one, but TWO, trivia nights!
Tonight we swung by our town’s high school football game. It’s Homecoming this weekend and I can’t wait to see what my adorable niece wears to the dance. I am struggling with the fact she’s a junior already! It feels like a few days ago that I was holding her in her first few hours of life.
I spent the day decorating for Halloween, and yes, I know I”m early! But I have a lot going on at the start of next week…an 80th birthday celebration for someone special, our 14th wedding anniversary, helping our son study for his next science test, and will be busy writing some fun posts to bring you more of my favorites in cable knit sweaters, halloween decor and gift guides for the upcoming holiday season.
A few things…
I have an ABUNDANCE of tomatoes from my garden right now so I plan to make this tomato pie recipe this weekend. I’ll let you know how it turns out!
I posted this on my Instagram, but this is the book I’m reading this week to start off the spooky season (a little early since I don’t normally start my spooky shows, movies and books until Oct. 1 but the fact that it’s been so cold got me started a week early).

This saute pan is, by far, the best I’ve ever owned. Not to mention it does not have PTFE, PFOA, and PFAS. (Read: it’s non-toxic unlike so many non-stick cookwear!)
These suede loafers are arriving on my doorstep this week.
Cannot wait to start watching this show!! Sharon Horgan is beyond funny.
