Sweatshirts I’d Actually Wear As A Woman Over 40
My tween/teen nephews, niece and all their friends seem to constantly live in hoodies. Oversized baggy sweatpants, hoodies that swallow them up and when they walk toward me, all I see is a long extension of sweatshirt fabric, haha. At least the sweatshirts for teen girls will have cute embroidery or patterns on them.

So, as a 40-something woman. I’ve been hesitant to get into the sweatshirt game. I didn’t want to look like I was trying too hard or, God forbid, not dressing for my age. But I decided, WHO CARES. If I want to wear a sweatshirt, I’m wearing a sweatshirt. If I want to rock a hoodie in my mid-40s, so be it! There is no reason the teens should own the market on sweatshirts and hoodies. Especially when a very stylish friend of mine showed up in the most adorable bandana motif hoodie. I think that’s what actually prompted me to write this post. If she is comfortable wearing one, then there are sweatshirts out there that we millennials, elder millennials and GENX should have every right to look stylish (and comfy) wearing one.

The brands I’ve been leaning toward are Aviator Nation, Quince, Vuori, The Great, and, of course, The Gap. But don’t just limit yourself to brands. There are stores like Anthropologie, Evereve, Nordstrom and, yes, Amazon that carry great sweatshirts and hoodies made by various companies that look great on us!
As for styles, I like them all. Crew neck, hoodie, oversized, boyfriend fit, zip-up, cropped and half-zip. What you get just really depends on how you plan on wearing them. I love the look of a hoodie under a houndstooth blazer. Or a graphic hoodie with your favorite pair of barrel jeans for that roomie, lived-in comfort look. It’s really just dependent on what YOU like but I honestly don’t think there is anything out there that we need to shy away from when it comes to sweatshirts. Go for it!
